My family chose this cruise due to the itinerary (we'd never been to Belize or Honduras prior) and we'd never cruised Princess (we've sailed Royal Caribbean 5 times, Carnival 5 times, Celebrity 1 time).

Embarkation was a breeze! We were dropped off by our hotel shuttle right at the curb where our bags were retrieved quickly by porters. We then went through security and then to check-in. Check-in was very quick and efficient, the entire process probably took 15 minutes and we were off to the ship.

Once on board, my first impression of the ship was yes, it's older, but in very good shape. The public areas were well-maintained.

Cabin BF

Our cabin steward was adequate. Our cabin was clean with no problems. It just seemed like there was a lack of personal, one-on-one interaction with the steward like on other ships. Not once did we get a towel animal or anything unique like on other ships. Its a shame most lines today have gone to the 'mandatory tipping' model, where most ship staff feel like exceptional service will go unrewarded and they'll just be getting their split of the tip jar at the end of the cruise. My daughters had an adjoining balcony cabin on Rivera deck just behind the ship's bridge (we could see the captain and crew walking about the bridge from our balconies, pretty cool!) However, our cabins weren't connecting, but our room steward opened the door on the balcony which allowed us access to each cabin via the balcony. The cabins were laid out very well, with a very spacious closet area. The bed was everything advertised-very comfortable and plush.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

In Cozumel, we took a short cab ride to Cozumel Dolphinaris. My family enjoyed this immensely; however, it was VERY expensive and somewhat of a tourist trap in that you're forbidden from taking your own photography--instead, they employ their own photography staff to photograph and videotape you while interacting with the dolphin. (NOTE: You don't swim with the dolphin, you're allowed to pet and kiss them while the trainer stands with you.) Tourist trap, yes; but still fun. The photos and video were nearly $300 ON TOP of the nearly $250 admission fee, so have your wallet ready.
