We went on the Celebrity Infinity for a round trip Alaska cruise departing from Vancouver, BC on August 5th, 2018. We went on the trip with me, my wife, our 16 month old son, and extended family. It was a family reunion trip, which seems to work well on cruises since there's something to do for everyone and it's easy to find space to get together as a family.

First off I need to say that the crew went above and beyond to make it a memorable and enjoyable trip. As many of you already know from other cruises, the crew work so hard to make us happy and that’s what really makes the difference. Our stateroom attendant (Aldrin) was always so pleasant and cheerful and helped make out room more comfortable for my wife and me and our one year old son. He learned my son's name right away and always greeted him with a smile whenever we passed him in the halls. You can read more about our room experience in the room section below.

For dinner we had a large group and got one of the larger tables (table 153) and our server Irfan hustled like crazy to honor all of the requests of my large extended family. We had 3 young kids and he honored our request to bring out the food ASAP so that the kids wouldn't get fussy while waiting for their food. He quickly learned our preferences and he always had the high chairs ready, extra bread sticks for the kids, etc. The Trellis Restaurant main dining room was able to accommodate our special food requests (allergies for the kids) and even specially prepared single ingredient puréed for my 16th month old son. Mealtimes are always a struggle with my son but Irfan helped make our meals enjoyable! He deserves extra recognition for how hard he had to work to accommodate us all.

Cabin Review

Cabin Inside Stateroom 3

Exactly what you would expect for an interior stateroom. The ship can provide a pack and play but we decided to bring our own so that we could get our son used to sleeping in it prior to the trip. (The Baby Bjorn travel crib is definitely the best one for travel)

Our cabin attendant Aldrin was one of the best parts of the trip. He helped remove some extra furniture to give us room for the travel crib and to make the room more baby friendly. He removed the arm chair, small side table and desk chair. He also emptied the mini-fridge (but be warned that the fridge doesn’t get very cold so it might not be good for storing formula or anything else temperature dependent) and removed the glasses from the room so our son wouldn’t knock them over. As other people recommended, bring some magnetic clips and ask for an extra sheet or two to hang up as a room divider to help block light so that you can surf your phone and do other things after you put your baby to bed.

In an ideal world, I would’ve loved to book a room with a balcony or a family suite for more room and comfort. But we definitely made it work with an inside stateroom and all 3 of us in one room. It was the more affordable option for us. Also one benefit of the interior room is that it is total blackout with no exterior light, which is really helpful for getting a baby to bed!

Port Reviews

Cruise terminal is at Waterfront right in downtown. Definitely visit gastown, stanley park, and Robson shopping street!

Walked around downtown. Free shuttle provided from where the cruise ship docks to downtown Sitka. Check out Old Harbor Books along the main street! Super cute local bookstore.
