On January 21 We left upstate South Carolina and headed for Ft Lauderdale, Fl. This was our 8th cruise 7th on Carnival second on the Miracle. It was our 35 wedding anniversary so we wanted to pick an itinerary that we had not been on before. We chose the Southern Caribbean. (St Kitts, St Lucia, St Marten. We had cruised the Carnival Miracle before and liked it so we chose it.
Our first night we drove to Savannah, GA and stayed in a Comfort Suites off Hwy 95 on ext 94. Got a coupon on line. Great choice! Three years old still in great shape. The staff was very friendly. Continental breakfast the usual!
On January 22 we drove to Ft Lauderdale there we stayed in a Fairfield Inn & Suites. Book this on Parksleepfly! Another great choice! It had just opened in October. Staff was very friendly and helpful! Our room was a two room suite with a king size bed two TVs. It was awesome! We found an italian place for dinner cant remember the name but it was very good!
Okay, Now for our cruise! It was an interesting cruise to say the least! A first!
We were up and ready for our shuttle around 9:30 our apt was 10:00 we used ACE shuttle had used them before and there located at the motel. We were on the van an headed to the port by 9:50 that is a first for us. We have had to wait one to two hrs before. We were at the port by 10:15 and checked in by 10:45. We then had to wait to be let on the ship. We were on the ship by 12:00 and headed to lunch!
We were in our (4137) by 1:30 our luggage came before we went to the life boat drill. We had a room with a french door with an obstructed view. We paid the price of a interior room but this room was larger with a sofa. We had daylight each day. DF liked this room a lot. Since it was an 8 day cruise we spent a little more time in the room. The sofa was a nice touch.
Our Cabin steward was Hermagenes from the Philippines! He was great! Very attentive and helpful! We had out towel animals every night! Our room was cleaned twice a day!
We chose early seating for dinner table 388! We were seated with Lee and Sandi from Ky. We enjoyed meeting them and having dinner with them every night.
The shows were very good on this cruise! We had some kind of show every night.
The one thing I noticed on this cruise. The noise in the Lido buffet! There were more dishes broken on this cruise than we have ever seen on any cruise before. It was hard to find a place to seat at lunch.
On St Kitts day we were docking and the winds were 37 knots. The ship hit the dock and there was a huge hole in the side of the ship. They flew in welder from Miami and were there over night while they fixed the ship. We were delayed about 14 hours. We were late getting back to Ft Lauderdale on Sunday! We arrived around 9:30 and was off the ship and back to our care by 11:45. We pulled in our drive way 11:37pm. Long day! But worth it!
The only thing that I can say is that they need to work on there disembarkation! They are not quite there yet! And, I have never seen so many people that will not follow direction! If people would listen then it would go a lot smoother!!
I would sail on the Miracle again. It is a pretty ship! DF and I loved Jeeves lounge we went there most days and found a seat back in the corner by the window and enjoyed the quite!
Main floor mid ship. Great size! Sofa. Same price as interior because it was obstructed view! But, it was a great room! Cabin 4137
We had been to this port before so we just got off and did some shopping.
We took the "Best views of St Lucia Tour" It was a nice tour. I was a little disappointed because I did not get to see the Pitons. Oh well just another excuse for a cruise! It is a pretty island.
Here we took the "St Kitts Highlights and Brimstone Hill Fortress" tour. Great choice! It took us to the Romney Manor Gardens and to Fort George also to Caribelle Bastik. We had Benjamine as a tour guide he was good to tell us everything about his Island! He even stopped and picked a Cashew nut off a tree to let us see what it looked like. He added small touches that made our tour stand out from the others! Thanks Benjamine!
