My husband and I are latitude members, and in the past, we found Norwegian a cut above many other cruise lines. It was always one of our top choices, until recently. (We've cruised with Disney, Celebrity, Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival.) For this cruise, we booked three mini-suites to treat our entire family, and contrary to our past experiences with Norwegian, the ship seemed very short-staffed, most of the workers seemed stressed or blasé, rarely smiled or said good morning/evening, and in all of our cruises, we've never experienced such rude passengers. The cabins were nice, but the beds were only average as far as comfort. The food was also only average. One day at the buffet, we saw a server with sniffles cough into his gloved hand, wiped it on his pants, wipe his nose on his sleeve, and go back to serving food. Then, there was a bartender we saw take a bottle of Kahlua off the shelf, pour a cup of tap water in it, and put it back on the shelf, and the cocktails I ordered had very little if any alcohol in them. That was very disappointing at $10 a pop! In addition, one evening, we ordered nachos at O'Sheehan's Bar, and the cheese was so watered down that it was more like a cheese broth. In the dining room, bar servers were in very short supply, and by time one took our drink order and brought the drinks to our table, dinner was already being served.

This was our third cruise to Alaska, and of course, we enjoyed all the ports of call, scenery, and excursions! When we are exploring our next cruise adventure, Norwegian will no longer be one of our top choices. I sent this review to Norwegian customer service, and they never responded.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MA

This cabin was nice. Because it sits by the hallway fire door, it is about 6-8 inches narrower than other cabins in this class. It was sometimes problematic walking by the bed, especially at night. It was also smaller than mini-suites we've booked through other cruise lines. There was very little walking room between the bed and the closet, and it took some maneuvering to get to and into the closet.
