Trip Details
  • Sail Date: Jul 2018
  • Destination: the Baltic Sea

Always fancied a Baltic cruise due to the amount and variety of ports visited. Our cabin had a full length window and was more spacious than i expected with a very well appointed shower room and lounge area.

A wide variety of dining choices with a huge menu to cater for all tastes.

The staff and crew were very helpful contributing significantly to our overall experience. Great entertainment and activities for sea days and evenings.

We did our own thing at each port having worked out in advance where and what we wanted to see so did not use the ships excursion facilities other than the shuttle bus at Helsinki and Stockholm.

Arranged our own visa for Russia and stayed ashore in a St Petersburg hotel and visted a great authentic Russian restaurant. this allowed us both days with total freedom of movement rather than tied to arranged tours.

Used a cash account for our on board purchases rather than credit card which can be costly with poor exchange rates.

As a couple we would certainly consider another cruise.

Cabin Review

Cabin Outside large window 4590

Bigger cabin than expected that had full length window. Well appointed shower room and a fine wee lounge area. Cabin house keeping was excellent.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Amsterdam

Had a day at each end of our cruise in Amsterdam so no time pressure issues. We have been to Amsterdam many time before and love it

Skagen

Was off the ship at 0710 and off up to the Grenen point by 1000. had one foot in the North Sea and another in the Baltic Sea. Visited the Bunker Museum a good insight to the Atlantic War. Excellent coffee and cake at this bakery/cafe on way back into town.

Tallinn

Graet old town with narrow cobbled streets. plenty to see and quirky wee shops around every corner. Good food and drink in the Town square.

St. Petersburg

Our main reason for the cruise. Arranged our own visas and stayed in a hotel overnight at Vosstanya and an excellent restaurant the Suliko for dinner. Getting around was easy on the Metro. This allowed us full freedom of movement and allocated our own time at each location. Unless you are g.oing further afield doing your own thing is in my opinion the best option

Helsinki

Took the shuttle bus in and out from the cruise ship terminal due ti distance. Most of what you need to see is all within walking distance and accessible by the island ferries.

Stockholm

Wasa museum was one of the highlights of the whole trip. Again we took the shuttle bus for the same reason. Bigger than Helsinki and lots of places for food and drinks especially around the harbour area.

Copenhagen

Walked into town taking in all the tourist sites enroute. Great city especially Nyhavn with a huge choice of eating and drinking establishments. definately had my share of Danish Hyyge
