We have traveled with Viking on three longship cruises so we decided to treat ourselves to an ocean cruise. We were delighted in our experiences with the exception of our flight with Delta. Our flights were delayed and our luggage was lost, meaning my husband was not able to follow the dress code for the dining room on the first night of the cruise. He was reminded about the "no jeans" mandate at the door in a very nasty way. When we explained about the luggage loss she reluctantly allowed us in. HOWEVER, on subsequent evenings we noticed that many men and women appeared in the dining room in jeans. Surely there luggage was not lost for six days. Although some of the shore excursions were good, some were really bad. The Porvo trip at the Helsinki port was horrid. Next time we will do just about any cruise that does not include Helsinki as it was a real bust. The guide in Stockholm was horrid and had we not been to Stockholm before we would not have been able to make it back to the ship. More time in Copenhagen and Tallin would have been preferable to Helsinki. The food and dining experiences were fantastic. The staff members serving us (we purposely asked for the same table so we could have the same waiter) were wonderful and did everything to make our dining experiences over the top. The onboard entertainment was diverse, colorful and well attended. The port lecture tours were very informative and certainly helped us prepare for the next day's experience, We had thought that the larger number of guests on an ocean cruise would mean that the services and friendliness would be compromised. This certainly was not the case and we are already planning our next Viking Ocean Cruise.

Cabin Review

Cabin 3056
We could not have been more delighted with the cabin and the staff services. I am sensitive to odors and when I experienced migraine headaches from the scent of the room cleaning and deodorizer agents that had been used. The second day of the cruise the staff came in, stripped the bedding and draperies and shampooed the carpet. That's service!
