Honestly, we loved the Viking River cruises so much that we wanted to try the new Ocean Cruises. We were hoping they would transfer everything we loved about the river cruises, and they did, plus some.
I was tiring of taking out a bank loan to have a bottle of wine with dinner on the mass market mega ships. Viking offers paired wines with lunch and dinner and beer, too, at no additional charge. Soft drinks, juices, water, coffee and air (joking about the big ships nickel and diming you to death) are also included. We were we're fortunate enough to be able to dine in Manfredi'is multiple times. I'd love to eat there every evening but, so would many others. We dined in the Chefs Table twice. That was not my cup of tea. I'm not into foam appetizers and fancy plates of food. The wine pairings in the Chefs Table were very interesting and even if the food was not appealing, the wines were fun. Speaking of food and drink, if you'd like to have drinks throughout the day and evening, Vikings Silver Spirit package is only $19.99 A day. This is a real deal compared to the rest of the cruise lines. Most others are getting in excess of $60 a day with a 15% gratuity added on. We only ate in the main dining room twice. The food and service were good.
We only went to one event in the theater. For those that are always cold, they had "throws" on the back of some of the seats.
Very spacious and elegantly appointed. Mini bar with liquor is replenished daily and include in this category stateroom. The bedding was very comfortable and was a king size bed. Plenty of USB outlets and electrical outlets. The bathrooms are the best at sea. A very large walk in shower, heated floor and roomy. The room also had a cappucino/coffee maker with all the necessities. The furniture on the balcony is adequate but I wished they had some type of lounges instead of just 2 chairs and a table.
