My wife and I cruise for the destinations - 'sea days' are an accepted necessary part to travel between some ports, but in general they are not to our liking. So, having worked for 40 years for a Scandinavian company and travelled around Europe on their behalf, it's not hard to guess that our main, I would go so far as to say only, reason for choosing this itinerary was the 2 day visit to St Petersburg. This was cancelled, as already reported by others, due to weather conditions not being appropriate for a vessel such as Silhouette. Very disappointing, quite unacceptable (in particular the response, or lack of, from Celebrity). We have to be honest, there were some good/excellent aspects to the cruise - and some others that were not! Embarkation and disembarkation at Southampton were both excellent, as was the check-in process. The onboard entertainment, in the main theatre, was the best we have ever seen at sea. However, we certainly did not appreciate the noisy entertainment in the atrium! Whoever thought it a good idea to have a loud band playing just 15 yards from Customer Relations on one side, and Shore excursions on the other, had obviously never experienced trying to have a meaningful conversation with these people! The cabin was 'OK', smaller than we had anticipated when comparing with other cruise lines, cleaning was 'adequate'. Dining in the main restaurant was very good; we settled into a pattern of having the same table and servers each evening - and their service was excellent. Lunch in the buffet offered an extremely wide range of very good food - only difficulty was finding a vacant table, particularly on the increased number of 'sea days'! That said, the bar service offered was very good. The latter could not be said about the Sky Lounge. We tended to go there at quiet times and, although it was generally easy to find a waiter to take our order, it took upto 15 minutes for them to return with a very straightforward order! Whatever happened to the crisps or nuts that have traditionally been served with cocktails in the past (on all other cruise lines)? Apart from the already stated disappointment at having the main destination port denied to us, and the sea days thereby increased from 5/13 to 7/13, our main complaint, indeed concern, was the poor quality of the pre-departure safety briefing. We were directed to an unbearably over-crowded indoor muster area in the centre of the ship; a cartoon type video was shown on TV screens and one of the crew came forward to demonstrate how to put on a life jacket. Then a voice from someone, in the distance and out of sight to most of us, said then you would follow me.... this way! Who they were, where they were - or in which direction they were pointing we never found out! Contacted Customer Relations in Weybridge two weeks ago: still waiting on a response.

Cabin smaller than expected. Cabin service was 'OK'; usually carried out to fit in with our morning and evening dining habits.
Missed touches such as the 'towel sculptures' that other lines seem to do (perhaps these are old-hat now, but they seemed to add a personal connection to the steward).
