We took this cruise as it was for a decent price for a balcony. Overall it met our expectations as we are previous cruisers of Carnival. The shows in the main theater were better than expected based on our experiences on other ships. I would recommend the shows to others. Their comedians were good and had plenty of selection of times to go the 9-10:15 shows were always packed. The room steward was great. The third day we got a waiter in the main dining room we liked and were able to request him the remainder of the week with our anytime dining. Note we did have to line up for anytime dining before service opened as quite a line was forming and people were always waiting for a table when we left at 7-7:30. Our server would let us know of upcoming port embarkation and debarkation times as well. The ship is older but they do a good job of keeping it clean. They are not doing a great job of upholding their dress code policies in the dining room. Elegant night ranged from nice evening gowns to tank top and shorts. If you wanted a good spot in the serenity area you had to get there early as people were saving seats with their stuff but would be gone for hours. Half Moon Cay had an amazing beach and a decent time on shore. Grand Turk and Freeport we had only 4-5 hours which makes going very far difficult. We found good snorkeling at each location though.

Cabin Review

Balcony
Cabin 8D 6245
Nice balcony room. Good condition but a bit worn. Door to balcony really loud if you don't hold it while closing. Comfortable pillows and bed.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

The inner harbor was nice and we toured the historic ships they had there and walked around. A few blocks off of pratt st though had many homeless and becomes run down quickly. The city also seemed rather dirty. I would recommend going around inner harbor but not straying from there.

There is not much to do at port as this seemed mostly and industrial port. You had to go into town or do an excursion. We found other people to ride with us in a taxi to Paradise Cove to go snorkeling. If you can get at least 5 people it is $8 a person each way for the taxi. It was $4.50 a person to snorkel if you brought your own gear and they have gear to rent. The reef was quite a swim to get there but it was in shallow water for the swim didn't get deep until the back side of the reef. This was the best reef of the three ports and is called Dead Man's reef. We saw a large turtle someone else saw a nurse shark and we saw one fish the size of a 10-12 yr old child along with many other fish and coral. They also had some man made coral area to attract fish closer than the natural reef to not swim as far. Paradise Cove would have a 4.5 star rating but Freeport overall gets a 3 for the short time in port and not much around at the port itself.

We went snorkeling off the beach that is just around the point from the ship. Walk to the right from the ship to the point and around the corner and another 500 yards and there are several reefs. Many others were at the pool that is right inside the welcome area. Drinks were the same prices as on the ship.

The beach is amazing. It is a couple miles long if you want a long walk and very pretty. It is carnival's private island so the crew from the ship serves lunch on the island at a picnic facility. It was similar quality to lido deck. Snorkeling is past the far point around the bend. Or they have a small man made area near the kids water playground where we saw a few fish. Walking down to see the sting rays was cool too.
