We had only sailed on Royal Caribbean in the past and we were excited to get on a brand new ship and go to Alaska. The ship is nice but not the nicest one we had been on. The cabins were also nice, but again nothing special. Had an adjoining balcony room with the rest of the family which was nice except for the fact that the balconies were unable to be opened up without the divider between them. The food in the free dining areas was ok. We ate at the Cafe exactly twice and was disappointed both times, not so much because of the food, but because it was so crowded everytime we were there. Great selection of different foods in the cafe, but the quality was just ok- nothing really special. My theory is they are trying to appeal to everyone and doing it just OK. I am not a fan of freestyle dining but I understand the appeal of it for lots of people. The speciality restaurants that we went to were well worth the extra money. Ocean Blue was very very good, the Italian restaurant did a great job, but do not miss La Bistro (French cuisine). Spend the extra money, avoid the hordes of humanity and enjoy the speciality restaurants. The main dining rooms (Taste, Savor, and The Manhatten Room) all offer the same menu- see which one is least crowded and go there. Lots of entertainment on board. Dont miss the race track- worth the wait. Cruise staff was great. Lots of events in the atrium, which gets very very crowded. Come early to get a seat. On board shopping is pretty standard. Understand what you are looking for and comparative shop before you buy. Lots of watches and jewelry. Know your prices before you buy it though. This is pretty standard with all cruises though. Bought the unlimited wifi package. Coverage was ok. Slow speeds and drops were common. Excursions are worth the money. Dont miss Mendenhall glacier and nugget falls. Shopping out in town was ok. Recommend NOT going with the stores they recommend. Go to the other smaller shops for the best deals. Big plus for the sights of Alaska, but disappointed by the shear number of passengers. Would rather have gone on a smaller more intimate ship. In summary- great ship, mediocre food from the free restaurants great food in the specialty restaurants, lots of activities, nice staterooms, way too crowded.

Meh.....
