Embarkation and disembarkation were very smooth and relatively quick. Was unimpressed by Harvest Caye but stops in Mexico and Roatán more than made up for the sub-par private island. I had registered beforehand as someone with food allergies and was, as my fiance described, treated with "very helpful confusion." The staff was incredibly helpful when I notified them, but service at meals was delayed by accommodation (around 30-45 minutes per meal). Food was good, but nothing noteworthy at the MDR. Ocean Blue was great, La Cucina was alright, and Le Bistro was absolutely underwhelming. A note on the beverage package: drinks were watered down A LOT. Most mixed drinks had nearly no discernable alcohol in them, even thought alcohol was obviously added. Was great to not have to worry too much about dining attire. We booked all our excursions outside of NCL. Costa Maya was wonderful. We went snorkeling and booked an all-day pass at YaYa Beach. We went to Harvest Caye with no excursions planned and were underwhelmed by the beach, so we re-boarded the ship and enjoyed the pools sans screaming children. The snorkeling at Roatán was wonderful. We were with another couple who had been before and had a recommended guide. We spent most of the day in Cozumel at Chankanaab. Value was good but maybe I'm not meant for cruises this large. All the crowds gave me the heebie-jeebies.

Nice cruise, horrible stateroom location

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony
Cabin MB 9236
The stateroom was as expected but please note that this stateroom is DIRECTLY above a lounge. You can hear the musicians and singers very clearly until about 1 AM in the morning.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Snorkeling
Booked a day pass at the Yaya Beach Club. Had an hour-long snorkeling excursion where we got to see some sea-life and sea turtles.
The beach club's lounges were excellent and the dining area was excellent, but we were constantly harassed by beach vendors and saying "no thank you" about every five minutes.

Snorkeled at Chakanaab National Park. The park does offer towel rentals if you don't want to lug one from the ship. Had lunch at one of the in-park open air restaurants which was non-remarkable. The place was full of both cruisers and local school trips, but the area did not seem packed.

Sea lion show is worth a watch if you can make one of the three showings.

See above with Chakanaab. We brought our own equipment and snorkeled at the park. Waters were clear and there were plenty of fish!

  • Harvest Caye
Beach is mediocre and the whole place is packed. We booked it back to the ship after touring the wildlife exhibits.

Had a local guide and taxi hired beforehand. It was like snorkeling in an aquarium: truly beautiful waters and extraordinary amount of fish. Had a day pass for Infinity Bay, which has nice pools, good lounge chairs, and clean bathrooms.
