Friends had taken this cruise a couple years ago and recommended it. We were interested in all the countries and ports in the Grand European Adventure. We spent 2 days exploring Amsterdam prior to the cruise and I would highly recommend it. Viking did everything they could to make the experience enjoyable. Stein, our Program Director, stated on the first day that they strive to Beat your expectations..not Meet them. It showed in everything they did. We were met outside the ship at embarkation by the program director and hotel director who personally carried in our luggage and helped us get checked in.
Pros:
-Daily Excursions were great. Provided an overview of villages/cities as well as tours of the major attraction (castle/Cathedral). Set the stage for exploring on our own when time was provided.
Cabin Review
Our room size and amenities were nice. The bed had an extremely firm mattress so was uncomfortable. I would say our biggest complaint was the noise in the room at all hours of the day and night. We were woke up many times each night by engine noise and other noises.
