On July 9, my family, friends and I embarked on a family reunion cruise vacation onboard the Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas cruise ship. This vacation had been planned for over a year. We worked through our travel agent, Vicki Briggs. Initially, our cruise was planned on the Majesty of the Seas ship, but due to a repositioning by Royal Caribbean, our ship was changed to the Enchantment of the Seas.

Behind the scenes, our travel agent worked vigorously to ensure we had similar accommodations (rooms) as reserved on the initial ship. But, when we boarded the ship on July 9, we found that our accommodations were different and there was no adjoining room for our daughter. You see, we booked the adjoining room because we have a 9-year old child. She could not be in a room alone so to gain extra room for my husband, my daughter, and I we booked an adjoining cabin.

Immediately, we went to Guest Services to voice our concerns. We went with another family in our party because they also experienced the same exact issue. In the other family’s room, there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in addition, they also have a 9-year old and had purchased an adjoining room. We initially spoke to one of the gentlemen behind the counter. He was unable to assist us at all (he really should not have been working in customer service – he had no clue about his job – he kept leaving the desk to ask other people what to do – then he came back with no solution). Since the first person was not able to assist us, we were directed to speak with Gerald Braithwaite, the supervisor.

Terrible. There was mold and rust in my shower. There was mold in the soap dispenser (which we know the housekeeper knew about because she had to remove it to refill it). The room smelled, the bathroom smelled. There were stains all over the couch. There was also a hole in the couch. The phone had dirt and grime all over it. The balcony had not been cleaned. The door to the balcony had not been cleaned. It was evident that juice or ketchup or something had been splattered on the door and the housekeeper just didn’t clean it. The walls were dirty as well. I have attached pictures of everything that I could capture.
