This was our first Princess Cruise, our favourite cruise to date being with P&O Arcadia to the Caribbean and so I generally compare cruises to that one. We chose this cruise as we haven't been to Hawaii before, good weather, relaxing sea days on the sun decks and enjoy this newly refurbished ship. Additionally we had spent 3 days in Vegas in a supposedly 'budget hotel' and 1 in Los Angeles pre cruise so would need the chill out!

Journey from LAX Hilton hotel to the port courtesy of a total manic of a coach driver, he should be sacked! Greeted by a great Princess cruise member of staff who boarded the coach and gave us a lovely welcome. Embarkation was fairly smooth but the most lengthy we have ever had. Shown to our cabin and immediately became aware of the size of the ship. Cabin boy introduced himself to us; he looked after us well for the duration. Cabin & balcony smaller than Arcadia, bathroom tiny and a bit dated (a fraction of the size of our 'budget hotel' bathroom). Late leaving port, it was dark and had turned cold, sail away party disappointing. No luggage until around 8.30pm so we were unable to change for dinner.

After 2 weeks on the ship I would sum up as follows: we loved some of the public areas, beautifully decorated and very comfortable, especially liked the Piazza and wine bar, although difficult to get a seat at times. Excellent staff and service in Promenade bar. The ship was well laid out and very clean. We ended up eating breakfast and lunch most days at Horizon Court, staff were very friendly, nice touch bringing juice, tea/coffee to you, food reasonable, liked salad bar and fruit. Best to sit at far end as it's quieter. We did our own trips as always - too expensive on ship.
