This was a package deal for the time we wanted to travel. The embarkation and disembarkation was top notch. Reasonably clean suite but outdated. The best thing about the cruise was that the bed was very comfortable. The buffet was good but was a little disappointment in Donateli's. Raysund (?) was our waiter and he was great. However at one point I thought I saw the nutritionist shove him when he tried to serve me. Entertainment and activities were good. Had good massage but felt that the masseur got a little bit indignant when I didn't purchase the product they were selling. The lodge in Mt Mckinley was great. The suite was large and the bed was very comfortable. However the room at the lodge in Denali was dark and depressing which made it appear dirty. A lighter color on the walls and bedding would make this room in lodge G more comfortable to stay in. The variety in the ports and excursions was good. The travel services on the way home definitely needed better scheduling. Had to kill @8 hrs before our flight left at 9:30 p.m. and then another 1.5 hrs layover finally arriving in Houston at 10:30 a.m. Most of the folks traveling were complaining how late we had to travel. Would have been better traveling during the day. I highly recommend traveling to Alaska. Princess Golden was okay but for the price we paid it should have been great. Maybe the newer Princess vessels would have been a better choice.
Tourist town but you must visit the Wildflower Cafe. The best food we had during our Alaskan vacation.
Husband enjoyed the cemetery trip. Soapy Smith
We cruised on board Golden Princess so not exactly an excursion but amazing scenic views. Large glaciers with white and crystal blue ice. There was also some black ice. The calving was amazing to hear. God's beautiful creation show in all its glory.
