Celebrity Silhouette is a much larger ship than the ones on which we normally cruise but it was the only ship this year out of Southampton staying three days in St Peterburg and allowing us to take the high speed train to Moscow. The rest of the itinerary was good visiting many countries not visited before. We wondered if we would find such a large ship a little soul less. On the contrary it is a ship with a really good feel. A very friendly atmoshere with folk happy to pass the time of day rather than just pass you by. The staff are also a happy lot, very helpful, polite and efficient. The facilities are what you would expect of a Celebrity ship. The Ocean View Cafe is the best of the type we have encountered with an excellent range and quality of food. The gym is also very good as are the sauna facilities. The library, however, is poor. Perhaps they expect everyone to bring a “device” to read on. Reference and non-fiction books barely exist. Tours offered were average (except going to Moscow)

Cabin Review

AquaClass 1

Cabin A1

Our cabin was as expected although the en-suite was of particularly good proportion with good storage and an excellent shower. What did let it down was the fact that the ship's air conditioning duct runs along at deck 11 level starboard side and creates an intolerable noise when sitting on the balcony. Do not under any circumstances book a cabin on this deck on the starboard side unless you are deaf. I would rather have had a restricted view as the idea of sitting out enjoying the view in peace and quiet was impossible. Fortuanately for us we went ashore whenever possible and the weather was poor on three of the five sea days otherwise we would have been even more fed up. This noise issue really should be flagged up by Celebrity and then at least we would have had a choice.
