We selected this cruise because of the Silver Sea reputation for luxury. This cruise had the correct dates for our group’s calendar and it was visiting ports of Croatia. Nearest competitor was Regent. All inclusive was very nice and the food and alcohol selections were good. Up charge dining at Le Dame was worth the price but the wine selections were the same as those for the other dining areas which was odd. This causes more upcharge as you seek to improve the companion wine to dinner.
Our cruise director Vickie was excellent and provides entertainment on one night. She also runs daily trivia. Make sure to read DailybChronicle for hints. Also recommend going to daily lecture on upcoming port to help navigate the day’s excursions. This leads to excursions in general. On a 7 day cruise they can start to become a chore and they were largely panned by the people we spoke to. We cancelled the last half of ours and did our own thing. Also pay attention to strict cancellation policy.
The first port of Ravenna was a dud. Aside from 4 really old churches, it’s basically and oil and gas refinery town. Stay on the ship and relax. The crew will take better care of you than a 30 minute bus ride to downtown where you’ll be left waiting for a tardy bus to take you back to luxury.
Cabin was beautiful and very large. We were impressed with walk-in closet, dual sink bathroom, dining room, living room and large balcony. We had two TV’s and an entryway. You don’t expect that for a cruise ship. It was not an inexpensive proposition but I would say to pay the extra if you can swing it.
