We chose this cruise to fill a dream of visiting St Petersburg. We boarded the ship on 23rd June for this 14 night cruise. Embarkation went very quickly and we had lunch in the Ocean View Cafe while waiting for our cabin to be ready. The itinerary was good calling in at Zeebrugge for Bruges, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Tallinn, St Petersburg and Warnemunde for Berlin. Facilities on board were excellent, the cabin was spacious and shower very good. Staff on board were fantastic and could not do enough for you. The tours were a bit pricey so we only booked tours for Copenhagen and St Petersburg as to get off the ship in Russia you had to have a tour booked (this included a tour visa) or you had to apply for a visa prior to the cruise. In Bruges, Stockholm and Warnemunde we did our own this on the open top buses that were avaliable at the ports. The entertainment on board was excellent and shows were superb - dining was excellent and plenty of choice.
Now comes the disappointment - St Petersburg - the ship could not get in because the wind was too strong as the ship had to pass through a channel that was only 100 metres wide - the captain stated that the ship will be anchored in the Baltic Sea while awaiting better weather - the following morning again the captain stated that the weather was still too bad to enter the port and that the ship would move on to Warnemunde. All those passengers that had booked tours in St Petersburg with the ship had money refunded and the excursion team would help those that had booked private tours.
The majority of passengers had booked this cruise in order to visit St Petersburg so it was a disappointment to all on board - there was no mention of any compensation as it was an act of god and Celebrity could not be held responsible for the weather.
The cabin and toilet/shower was spacious and plenty of room. There was no room for a chair by the mirror unless you moved the beds - a stool would have been ideal for this. Cabin was kept clean and tidy by the excellent steward
