We love this itinerary, as this was the 4th time we have sailed on Carnival out of San Juan. The islands that are visited are fantastic. Here is my take our most recent cruise to the Southern Caribbean with Carnival.

Ship

The ship is an older one, but it looked to be in great shape. The crew was always visible cleaning. We didn't feel the ship was too crowded. The layout of the ship was easy to navigate and we never felt far away from anything.

Ocean View

Cabin 6E

Our cabin was E-163 aft, an oceanview with a large window which was on the starboard side of the ship in the middle. We were close to two elevator banks, one floor down from the Inspiration dining room and just two floors down from the casino. We enjoyed this room, which was adequate for our needs. Our attendant Yanyan, was nothing short of remarkable

Port Reviews

St. Lucia

We booked the Jalousie/Sugar Beach tour through Spencer Ambrose Tours. This trip was nothing short of amazing and included lunch and all you can drink sodas, beer, water and rum punch.

San Juan

We stayed the night before embarkation at the Holiday Inn Express Condado. We had some great authentic Puerto Rican food at Cafe de Angel and some killer calzones at PJ's Pizza, all within an easy walk from the hotel

Barbados

We took our own cab ride to the Boatyard. There were water trampolines, a high dive, rope swing and a pretty happening beach bar that serves some great drinks. $20 per adult to get in, and this includes transportation back to the ship.

St. Thomas

When on St. Thomas, we always go on our own over to Trunk Bay to St. John. Take a cab to Red Hook Ferry Terminal, then hop a ferry (they leave on the hour) and a quick 10 min cab ride to Trunk Bay.

Trunk Bay is consistently voted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

St. Maarten

St. Maarten is still recovering from the 2017 hurricanes, but despite their rebuilding efforts, the beaches are gorgeous, the people still friendly and the drinks still nice and cold.

If you go to St. Maarten, please spend some money to help them recover.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Again, we hopped a cab on our own to the Shipwreck Bar. This place is a black sand beach that has monkeys hanging around. The food and drinks were great and were very inexpensive.
