My family (ages 52,46,50 and 21) chose the Oasis based on what it has to offer. The size of the ship, rock climbing walls, flow rider, zip line, ice skating and the distinct neighborhood themes are all very alluring when shopping for a cruise. We have cruised on 11 other ships but will not do an Oasis class cruise again. Here's why with positives followed by negatives: Quality of food at the seated dining was good. Breakfast selection was good and omelettes were awesome. The ship itself is amazing. It's clean and after over 10 years in service it has minimal signs of wear. Embarkation and disembarkation was seamless. Staff was friendly and for the most part helpful. The theater is larger than normal and ship layout makes sense once you get situated. Our room was conveniently located with no major complaints with the hardware. We enjoyed central park in the morning and the solarium area is nice for those that want quiet (if you can find a seat).

Negatives: massive crowds of people everywhere!! (5,500 passengers to be exact). RCL tried to account for this with the design of the ship and different venues but fails on many accounts. All those things you want to do (zip line, climbing wall, flow rider, etc). Well guess what? Everyone else wants to do them too! The gym was always packed, Windjammer buffet is always packed and I didn't like having to schedule our shows. A looped message in the Windjammer reminds people to eat and get out so other guests can enjoy the mediocre buffet food. Buffet food was not as good as Holland America or Carnival. For the shows you need to form a line 40 minutes before to get a good seat....While waiting, RCL plays a looped message reminding you not to reserve seats but then they reserve seats for Diamond class and others....really RCL?

Our room steward was good but he was working on his tip so hard that after the second day it was very irritating and we wanted to avoid him all together! The gym was poorly laid out and always packed with many people sitting on equipment and texting. Drinking fountain was broken. The elevators were glitchy and lights do not illuminate after pressing buttons repeatedly. The mobile phone app was completely useless and inaccurate. We gave up and used the cruise compass. There were 3 events that we wanted to do but found were cancelled. Many people showed up and were disappointed. The parades in the promenade are goofy with many made up characters that no one can relate to. The broadway show CATS is a complete waste of time and many people left. Unless you absolutely love broadway style entertainment I suggest skipping it. RCL is trying to be world class but misses the mark on enjoyable entertainment for the masses when compared to other cruise lines. (disclaimer: Come fly with me was good). Some of the shows that RCL continues to promote are crude and inappropriate. Why do this? (Battle of the sexes as an example). The adult comedy is beyond inappropriate. Who thinks this is enjoyable? Wake up RCL.
