My children choose this cruise for all of us to celebrate my 60th Birthday. It was a great value for their budgets and the number of us traveling. Also having Cuba as a port of call was a huge part of their decisions. I must admit after 6 cruises on Royal Caribbeans larger/new ships the size was a shock to say the least. The boarding as easy I must admit their new process works very well. Disembarking took over 2 hours even though we choose to take our luggage with us. Apparently there were issues with customs agents and their computers. It was safe to say it was a horrible to have to wait that long in a line with a huge crowd of moaning people. We never had this experience before but we embraced it since we really didn't have a choice. Besides the size of the ship, the pool area was so small and the pool itself was way too small to handle the amount of people on the ship. Our fist night no one came and turned down our rooms and we had to wait over an hour for someone to come and put the upper bunk beds down when all we really wanted to do was sleep. In 2 out of 3 rooms the air conditioning was broken,we were given molding smelling fans to use in our rooms. After the initial back and forth over the beds/AC situation they were much better about cleaning the rooms and having them prepared for the evening. The ship is old and while you could barely tell there we certain things that showed the wear and tear. I think the AC was our hugest disappointment as far as our rooms went.

The food in the Windjammer was OKAY,the service was less than okay and the desserts we even less okay. The water station didn't work very well near the pool area leaving lots of extremely hot people annoyed and thirsty. When it did work it took about 2 minutes to fill one cup of water. The ice machine never worked and at first they set a huge container of ice out where everyone was sticking their hands into to pick up the scoop to get the ice, excuse but EWE and haven't they experienced enough illnesses aboard their ships to know better. They finally set it up so you had to pick up the ice scoop from outside the ice bucket and then put it back. Thank god for hand sanitizer! When we would have a late afternoon snack from the Windjammer we learned our dinner in the dining hall would pretty much be the same. also another let down. But our waiter and his helper were both extremely friendly and helpful. The guest services desk was very helpful and the workers were very friendly. Our excursions were amazing,we stopped in Nassau and Havana,we enjoyed being off the small ship and getting to visit Cuba was an amazing experience. I don't think we needed day at sea though. Considering we were packed like sardines on the pool deck it would have better served them to add or extend the port stops. We learned a valuable lesson and while I'm sure we'll cruise Royal Caribbean again it left us with a small desire to try other cruise lines.
