Both myself and partner Jeanette were on Marella Explorer for western Mediterranean cruise for 2 weeks from June 23rd to July 7th. We were in outside balcony cabin 8071. This was our very first ever cruise so didn’t really know what to expect. The cruise was for my 60th birthday. At the age of 60 and having done most if not all exotic holidays Caribbean, Maldives, Mauritius so on and so on, this has to be the best vacation yet. Flights, transfers, baggage to your room was ‘military planning’. There was something on board for everyone and the ‘standard’ drinks menu was endless with “all” premium bottled and draught beers along with spirits and wine. No need to upgrade, in fact we both wondered what we were upgrading to. The food was delicious with something for everyone and I mean everyone!! The fish and cuts of meat were delicious (try the lamb shank in Latitude restaurant). Our room was great and cleaned “twice a day” by the two relentlessly hard working duo Lewis and Kate a massive thank you to you both. Kate!!! We already miss your welcoming smile each day. I have got to say that “all” the staff worked hard in whatever role they were working in. Nothing was ever too much trouble so it really is difficult here to name names. I have to say a big thank you to both Yassa and Kostia who were working each evening in the Lounge bar. Kostia served everyone in their turn no matter who they were, something bar staff over here in the UK could learn from. Yassa was very competent and so friendly (I hope that your eye is better now). Lastly but not least we would both like to thank Stevan the waiter on the upper decks for his ‘Outstanding’ friendly tireless service. Lastly but not least, the nightly Broadway shows were of premium UK theatre standard, an absolute well done to all of you for giving us both memories we will never forget.
