We chose this cruise over other cruise lines that were more heavily advertising Cuba especially because of the 2 full days in Cuba.
I was warned by our travel agent that the Empress of the Seas is an older ship with smaller rooms. It is but again we picked this trip for the destination. RC remains one of my top 3 cruise lines (along with Disney & Princess)
We took our first cruise on our honeymoon in 2000 with RC. Over the years perks have declined but we remain satisfied. We really don’t care for Anytime dining - but it’s near impossible to get early seating. We’ve been pretty successful to get reservations at an early time and book for the whole week the first day. My only frustration there was on day 1 when reservations opened at 3:30pm (or 4:30?) I rang down and got no answer after trying twice I walked down to find only 1 person taking reservations and she apologized for not answering but said she was not allowed when she had a line of people. There ought to be 2 people manning the station on day 1 if that’s the case. Aside from that and twice the price of wine being $1 more than the menu stated, our dining experience was spectacular.
Pretty small room but we did not book this cruise for the room. Unobstructed ocean view and big picture window but the life boats are to the left and right.
Shower water was labeled backwards and was hard to get hot water once .
Otherwise all was fine - clean etc
Traveled to / from terminal to airport
No issues midday with traffic
