  3. Anthem of the Seas
My 15 year old asked to go on a cruise this year, and luckily I was dying to go on the Anthem! We embarked in Bayonne after driving to the port. Parking was easy after dropping our luggage off at the port. We were in the terminal, through security and on the ship in less than 30 minutes. Once on the ship we explored and found 270 lounge where we had a great lunch (try the roast beef sandwiches...you won't be disappointed). We went to sign up my son for several activities that I was unable to book online (I-fly and Northstar), we were easily able to book both. Really take the time to explore this ship on the first day so that you can make your way easily throughout the trip. Our cabin was ready by 1:00 and we were not disappointed. We had a balcony cabin on deck 8 and it was wonderful! Plenty of storage space, two closets, drawers and hooks all over. Two lounge chairs and a small table on the balcony. There is plenty of room to move around the cabin, and I could sit in the bathroom without feeling claustrophobic. A real door on the shower instead of a curtain. With one exception, I ate every evening in the main dining room, originally with my son, but after he met other kids his age on the ship, he wanted to eat in the buffet with them. All of my meals were outstanding! Breakfast and lunch I would either wander around finding and trying new venues or occasionally room service ( usually an additional charge). There are plenty of places to sunworship around the pools, but you have to get up early to get a good spot. I saw chairs that were unattended, with a towel holding the space. If someone complained, staff would remove the other person's belongings. The Solarium area is a nice respite from all the kids. Seaplex is a wonderful area for both adults and kids with trapeze school, bumper cars, basketball courts, roller skating, an arcade, X box live, rock climbing wall and Flow Rider area. My son found something to do day and night, even though he didn't sign up for the teens club. During the week, several times I heard other people with kids say that they didn't want to leave the clubs because they were having so much fun. All of our excursions were through Royal Caribbean and were well worth the money. Our only port where we didn't book an excursion was San Juan, where we just walked around the city. Bermuda, St. Maarten, and San Juan were wonderful ports, the only downside was the short time in port, especially in Puerto Rico. Labadee was our favorite port, with so much to do. The vendors were a little more aggressive there than the other ports, but I just bought what I wanted. Our days at sea were my favorite part of the trip, sitting on the balcony enjoying the ocean breeze and sun. We had one rough evening at sea, but it wasn't too bad, although they canceled one of the stage shows because of it. There was plenty of entertainment throughout the cruise, really depending on what interests you have. I loved the show We Will Rock You! By the end of the show the entire audience was on their feet belting out Bohemian Rhapsody! The service on the cruise was outstanding! Wayan, our steward went way above and beyond when it came to keeping our room up. Service in the dining rooms and buffet was also great. Debarkation was easy enough, I didn't feel that I could handle our luggage to self debark, so we had our biggest delay both waiting for them to call our zone, then actually finding our luggage once we got to our zone. Our luggage was not in the proper place, but staff helped my son find it. The lines going through customs were slow, but getting out of the port was easy enough.
