Chose as Thomas Cook rep said it was fantastic and that MSC were throwing loads of money into their cruises to try and bring them up to Royal Caribbean standards. Sure the staircase and decor in the public rooms was glitzy but I would have preferred to be at a tumbledown ranch style bar in order for the money to have been redirected towards better quality food ingredients. A friend told me that it’s a different ball game if you book via their MSCUSA website. Apparently the Americans were not booking because of the food and no free water.
If you aren’t bothered about hot tasty food, like both the sit down restaurant and the buffet to consist of the same ingredients but plated differently then it’s a good ship to use as a ferry to see many ports around the Med.
Good bits: Balcony cabin cleaned very well. Top marks to Sandra.
Balcony cabin on level 10. Lovely and clean. Comfy bed. Built in 1200 watt hairdryer in a drawer. Minibar but not included in the paid drinks package. Presume too time consuming to restock. Take earplugs if you are a light sleeper as corridors noisy with voices. We slept well... maybe all that walking
Walked about but why designer shops should choose to be in this small town I will leave you to figure out
Took a taxi to the Gaudi buildings. Excellent and back in plenty of time. Pre-booked tickets via Avator to save queues and to ensure we could get in. Park Guell was full till next day so book in time.
Walked 6.6 miles in a round trip to the Cathedral and through the old medieval town and back. Exhausted! Took a taxi next day in Barcelona.
Walked round the bay to the beach, people watched, swam in the sea, much cleaner than our previous visits in the 80s, no sand flies, toilets on site. Walked back along the promenade and the designer shops. A great day.
