We chose this cruise to experience the glaciers and to see whale. We were not disappointed.
This was an amazing cruise. We did do an Alaskan Cruise years ago but returned to the same port. No comparison. If you are planning an Alaskan Cruise, pick a north or southbound cruise.
The ship itself was beautiful. seems to have been recently upgraded. Great food, great service. The entertainment was ok. We have been on so many cruises that we are a little picky about the entertainment. I don't find that the cruises are bringing on special entertainment (like a comedian, magician etc) These used to be the best.
We flew to Anchorage and took the Alaskan train to Whittier. I recommend this. The train leaves Anchorage at 945. This gets you to the boat before everyone. Hubby and I were first on.
Our cabin was good. The bed was terrible. They tried to fix if a few times but ultimately we were left with a terrible bed. (I think the springs in the mattress where damaged along the edge of the mattress causing us to slide off the sides at night.
Went Whale watching in Juneau. Went with Juneau Whale watching company (it was great). Less people on the boat and much cheaper than the cruse excursion. We did not book ahead but bought on the pier. We were able to bargain with the guy and got a great deal.
One of the best parts of the cruise was SANDRA the naturalist on board. She is truly amazing. You can tell she loves what she does. We went to 3 of her talks. She was out with us on the deck talk to us and giving us information for all the importation areas. It was amazing.
AMAZING sites, sounds
A must see if you are booking an Alaskan Cruise
