This was supposed to be a celebration of our daughters graduation with her Masters degree, however as a family we decided it’s our last Princess cruise. 6 adults, 3 adjoining balcony rooms, great Alaska Inside passage itinerary but the Grand Princess isn’t! We are a Platinum Princess family and had cruised this same trip in 2013 from SF and had a great time. This trip was an easier embark than before however from the moment we boarded we recognized a real lack of maintenance! Rusting, broken, falling apart and a smell that’s unreal! Our rooms had broken, loose tiles in the bathrooms, rusted rottening balcony furniture, broken picture, TVs that sometimes worked! The elevators mostly worked, but inside each car there were levels of broken railings and a general lack of maintenance! Food in general at dining rooms and Horizon was largely horrible! The kitchen has become a joke! We literally ordered off the menu to get steamed vegetables and fish and meat with ZERO brown salty sauce which covered everything! Each menu was a lie! The descriptions had little connection with what actually came. The BROWN sauce was labeled veal jus, Marsala, porcini cream, and on and on! As to service, most of the waitstaff isn’t interested in serving. Constantly had to flag down unpleasant sassy folks that may or may not return. 3 bartenders we met explained that since we 6 had prepayed our drinking including the 15% gratuity the waiters/cocktail servers figure we wouldnt be tipping anything additional so why bother! Overall the boat has not been well maintained even though they claim it was dry docked and refreshed. Service sub par and the Food seriously inedible!
