We chose this cruise because the time fit perfectly for our family of 8 to go to Havana, Cuba. Because we live in Orlando, we cruised out of Port Canaveral, which was easy for us. We parked in the cruise port garage for $18/day. There is an offsite parking for $10/day which uses a shuttle.
. BEFORE you go, make sure you have filled out all documentation with regard to the Visa you will need for Cuba. Contact your travel agent or Norwegian prior to going to ensure all paperwork is in order. TAKE U.S. DOLLARS! No credit cards can be used in Cuba. You will not get any Internet either. You will need to change money in Cuba. You are not supposed to take any Cuban Pesos home with you. Some people say you should convert to Euros, then convert to pesos in Cuba, which may be a little cheaper than paying the U.S./Cuba conversion rates, just more of a hassle. ALSO - look below to see my info on HAVANA EXCURSIONS! It may save you a lot of money!
. BRING - a simple lanyard (especially for children) to hold your key card. If you don't have pockets or carry a purse, you can hang it around your neck.
. CABINS - We had 2 types of rooms: balcony (8257) and outside window only (8004).
The safes cannot accommodate laptops wider than 13". Put anything of value in the safe!! My Uncle left his small pocket knife in the outside pocket of his suitcase, and it was stolen!! Only balcony rooms and above have coffee/tea machines. However, we asked for one for the outside window room and they accommodated us. There is a low power blow dryer in the bathroom. They also provide shampoo/conditioner combo and body wash in the shower. If you want anything more than that, you'll need to bring it. The cabins were comfortable in size with room under the beds for your luggage, and plenty of storage space. I only found 1 outlet which was at the desk. There are USB ports at lights by the beds.
. ROOM SERVICE - There is an $8 charge if you order anything other than the continental breakfast.
