My husband and I have travelled on several cruises, and this year chose the Norwegian Jade as it offered an interesting itinerary. Before our cruise, we spent a very enjoyable week exploring London, an amazing city! On the day of the cruise, we took the train from Victoria Station to Southampton, and then a taxi to the ship. All very uncomplicated! Our embarkation was very painless, and we were soon checking out our cabin. Because we knew that it would be cold outside, we did not choose a balcony cabin as we usually would, but instead chose one with a picture window. The layout of the cabin was attractive and comfortable, though we did miss having a couch to sit on rather than the bed. There were plenty of storage spaces, and we were able to unpack and stow our clothing away easily. The only issue that we found with the cabin was that the toilet section of the bathroom was rather snug, and would probably be quite difficult to negotiate for anyone with mobility issues. Our room stewards were always friendly and obliging, and did a great job in the cabin.
The public rooms of the ship are very attractively decorated, and there are plenty of signs around to help find your way in the first few days. Public bathrooms are kept spotless, with regular checks throughout the day and night.
We found dining on the Jade very good. We had a specialty dining package, and really enjoyed the restaurants we visited. Teppanyaki was lots of fun and absolutely delicious! We also enjoyed the Moderno Churrascaria so much that we went back a second time. Cagney's Steakhouse also provided a delicious meal which we couldn't fault. Most other nights we dined at the Grand Pacific, and other than having to wait for a table most times, the meals were always delicious. Our favourite breakfast spot was O'Sheehan's Bar where the meals were freshly cooked, and service was excellent. For convenience, we often had lunch at the self-service Garden Cafe, which had many choices, and was always very popular.
