I booked this cruise because my husband was stationed in Germany in the 1970's and loved it. I picked this trip because of the stops in Germany. We were also celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We arrived a day early and spent the day in Zurich and we stayed an extra day in Amsterdam at the end. We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise. We opted for the "Aquarium Class" cabin down below and did not regret this at all. The only time spent in our cabin was to sleep and to change. The staff were so friendly and took time to get to know us. We often skipped the excursions and explored the towns on our own and that worked out very well for us. We enjoyed the use of the bicycles the ship provided. The food was delicious and the wine was wonderful. A couple of times they brought local entertainment and both were terrific. Their onboard piano player was a lot of fun, as well. I would definitely recommend Avalon! Our only regret is we should have added another day in Amsterdam!
