We wanted to visit the different countries offered by this cruise. We had been on the Nieuw Amsterdam 5 years ago but had since used Regent seven seas and Oceania. Sorry but this ship no comparison!! Food nice service nice entertainment ok except for B.B. King Blues Club which was fantastic. Staff always on the “upsell” buy buy buy. Even at breakfast staff in dining room trying to sell water to take ashore. Poor form. Cabins ok if neighbors not inconsiderate and banging balcony doors at all hours . Cabin staff great as usual but overall too many “extras” which means we won’t be doing Holland America again. Food ok and service ok but always pressured to do wine tasting or buy a wine package. Check in staff st dining room not happy if you preferred to sit by yourself- usually stuck in a corner where service was terrible. Embarkation was very easy but no spirits allowed only 1 bottle of wine each. Alcohol not cheap and of course 15% added to all booze purchased. As the price Australians pay is supposed to include tips we deducted the $27 us a day charged automatically to our cabin. Don’t pay it!!!
