We chose the Baltic cruise on the Breakaway as a family vacation. Our son, his wife and child, my daughter and her boyfriend, my husband and myself had the time of our lives, Excursions to different ports, ship's' activities and of course the delicious food cuisines at either the buffets or restaurants were first rate. To make the voyage even more memorable and with the assistance of the NCL staff, was our daughter's engagement to her boyfriend took place in the Manhattan restaurant.
Entertainment opportunities aboard the Breakaway were good. There was no lack of talent, however the selection of Rock of Ages as a major show was questionable. Given the diverse cruise population in age and cultures, a more suitable selection could have been chosen. Those patrons in their late twenties who grew up with hard rock and heavy metal songs raved about the show. Older passengers disliked it and some walked out. Loud song volumes do not necessarily mean better enjoyment. On the other hand, the Tenors of Rock group, looking the 80's appearance had tailored their song selections to entertain a wider cruise population singing songs ranging from British rock to finishing with the Phantom of the Opera.
The atrium on the Breakaway was always noisy, With guest services, cruise next, excursion reservations a bar area, and the big screen located there, programs like bingo, deal or no deal,,or demonstrations might be moved to outlying areas This would allow people to socialize easier. In February we cruised the Panama canal on the Star with NCL where this was the case.
Very comfortable for our 9 day cruise. Storage areas were abundant. The ability to store suitcases beneath the beds was so important. The bath/shower area was wonderful.
