Sail Date: Jun 2018
Cabin: Sky Suite 2

My DH and I chose this cruise to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We have been cruising almost annually since we went on our honeymoon in 1983 (RCL). Last year we went on Summit for a 9 day cruise, so this year we decided to splurge and took a 10-day cruise in June. We had an awesome Sky Suite last year (Cabin 6131) and were able to book its twin cabin (6132) for this year's cruise. The balcony is much larger than most in these two sky suites as it juts out further than most.

We enjoy sailing from Bayonne or Baltimore because we can drive to either port and not have to fly. I was concerned about embarkation because I am recovering from a broken bone in my leg and walking with a cane and a boot. The parking attendant was compassionate and pointed us to a closer parking space when he saw my situation. The check in was pretty smooth because we had booked a suite (this makes a huge difference on Celebrity and is worth the cost for the perks). Unfortunately three clerks could not get my photo taken along with the sea pass. They said the security clerk when we got on the ship would be able to do so. This was a complication that we could have done without. When we got to that clerk just before getting on the ship, he had to hold up the line while HE tried to get the photo to take and attach to my sea pass, causing passengers behind us to grumble. :( Honestly the Sea Pass never did work properly; it did not work as a key to open the cabin door, however it did work to charge things at the shops etc. I didn't ask for a replacement; due to my broken bone my husband was with me at all times anyway.

Our suite butler, Rikki was excellent! We told him I needed ice for my leg a few times a day and he always kept a large bucket of ice ready in our cabin, three times/day. He was extremely efficient and always responsive to any question we had, and was an excellent problem solver! He was always cheerful and things were fixed in a hurry anytime we had a concern (though we did not have many!).

Cabin Review

Sky Suite 2

Cabin S2

Very nice cabin with an oversized balcony. Close to the elevator and very convenient for that reason. Did not have any problems with noise from the elevator or anything else for the entire cruise. Spacious cabin; no complaints! Everything was in great working order. We asked for extra pillows and towels and they were provided promptly. Bathtub is a bit difficult to get in and out of so we brought a step stool as we noticed this on a previous cruise. Lots of storage but would have preferred more shelves and drawers. Overall we would not hesitate to book this cabin again in the future. Robes, slippers, umbrella and binoculars were provided at no extra fee. Butler always went the extra mile too. :)

Port Reviews

Bar Harbor

Did not take an excursion and we were not prepared for how cold this port would be in June. It looked beautiful from the ship however.

Newport

Met up with friends there who live nearby. Very lovely port with wonderful shops, restaurants and very nice people.
