These are the comments I left for Royal....
Our wait staff, Jesus and MengJu were excellent. Our glasses were always filled, the dishes were thoroughly explained, etc. My husband has a meat allergy so Jesus would always describe the fish of the day. Roger, the dining room manager was very attentive and friendly. I found it odd that they served fried seafood and french fries on formal night. Other cruises we've been on serve Lobster or Filet on formal nights. We've never had to pay an additional charge for these. One of the things we like about cruising is that you pay one amount and you can relax and enjoy the food and entertainment. I appreciate the option for the specialty restaurants, but probably would not take advantage of that offering.
Food: The food was good, but not five star. The chicken salad on the lunch bar started out crisp and fresh, but day after day became soggy and wilted. Same goes for the salad bar. We got frustrated when we came back to the ship from excursions and couldn't find a seat in the Windjammer. The waiters sat us at tables with strangers, which was fine, but it was very crowded and people acted like they hadn't eaten in days. It was chaotic to the point that I preferred to eat in port and skip the afternoon Windjammer all together.
We had an air b & b in Venice and it was fabulous. We could have spent a lot more time there.
We explored on our own. It was lovely.
It took so long to tender to the port that we didn't have time to go to Olympia. We went to the little shops and the beach near the port. It was a great day.
