This cruise was chosen because of the ports of call, available time for our group.
We have cruised frequently and found the Epic to be typical of large ships. Epic had the smallest cabins I've ever encountered and the arrangement of the 'facilities' was very unique. Shower on one side was about the size of a telephone booth. Toilet on other side was adequate and sink was in the room which was convenient. We had rooms on the stern of the ship which once again provided us with beautiful panoramic views and quiet outside since almost no one passed by unless they had one of the rooms back there. This is the 1st NCL ship we've been on that provided an actual lounger plus a chair. A plus for me.
We found the staff on the ship to be very courteous and eager to help. Exception was our room steward.
Tiniest cabin we've ever encountered. Our double bed was not even a foot from the cabin wall. Our daughter shared her cabin with our granddaughter in two single beds and the beds were less than 6" apart which meant that the one farthest from the sliding glass door had to crawl in from the foot of the bed. We always get aft balconies when we cruise because we enjoy the relative quietness and the awesome views. We do not find any prop noise but do hear the 'music' of the water.
Looked at the map and just walked around enjoying the architecture, small streets, small shops and free flowing fountains marveling at the chaotic traffic.
HIred a private ride share company to take us to Pisa and Livorno.
