this was our first cruise from Southampton and embarkation could not have been easier we were settled in and drinking coffee before we would ordinarily have even taken off on a flight to a start port further afield. Sapphire Princess is a lovely ship although some of the bars are a little too dark for daytime use on wet sea days. The conservatory is a useful addition for those days tough. Dining was up to the usual princess standards, although the horizon court a bit of a bunfight as the servery is quite small - we just didn't use it after the first attempt. The disappointment of the holiday were the seriously overprices tours on offer. particularly the Flor og Fjare gardens in Stavanger. They are truly beautiful gardens but the paltry 90 minutes that we were allocated - which was actually only 60 minutes due to late transfers , did not allow us time to do them justice. I had tried to self source this tour but couldn't - so i expect that there is an arrangement between the gardens and the cruise companies on cruise days. In all other ports we self sourced tours and busses at at about 50% of the cruise cost. It would also have been better to spend a longer day in Bergen. we left at 13.30 Thursday to sail back to Southampton - we could have stayed in Bergen another 3 hours and still made it back for 7 am on Saturday. So yes - a good holiday but could have been better.

Cabin Review

Oceanview (obstructed view)

Cabin OY

as we had not been in an oceanview cabin before we asked for our usual queen bed - mistake - in order to see out of the window we had to be kneeling on the bed - it would be better to have twin set up.

twin set up also left no space to have the 2 chairs in any position to be able to use them to watch TV - again twin set up would have helped.

and we got fed up with bumping into the side table - so tucked that out of the way in the dressing area.

Bathroom kept immaculately clean by steward - but was a little tires with ingrained stains around the plughole in the sink
