This was my first time on a cruise ship and as my rating suggests overall it was a very pleasant experience. In fact, the time on the ship was very good. It was clean, the rooms were adequate and the food was as expected. The entertainment was better than expected.Mama Mia, the headliner show, the Blue planet show - all exceeded expectations.

The time off the ship - that is another story. I bought excursions from RCCL for 3 of the 4 port calls. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! Forget that they are way overpriced, that I can live with. What I can't live with is what is supposed to be an 8 hour excursion turns into 2 or 3 hours of doing the actual activity and 4-5 hours of meetings, travel and standing in lines. Did the XPLORER excursion in Cozumel that boasted 14 zip lines. By the time we got there (1 hour of meeting time +1.25 hours by boat tom the mainland) and at the zip lines, we were told we could only do 7 of them due to time constraints. Ended standing in line more than an hour to do a Kayak adventure that was a joke. No one could navigate the plastic tubs (with sandals given as paddles) so if you could get the thing moving you rammed into the back of the other poor guys in front of you. Literally, everyone was stacked up end to end around the entire fake underground river. Also did the Dual Mayan ruins excursion. It was awful! Worst day of the year so far. 8 hour excursion was actually 45 minutes at the first site and 1 hour at the second. We had to scream at our guide to take us back in time & ended up arriving 4 minutes before the ship departed! Gave us a sack lunch that consisted of bread cheese and mayonnaise. My family had over 100 mosquito bites from the first site. You couldn't pay me $25K to do that again! In the end I would rate the RCCL excursions 1 out of 10. Figure out your own agenda off the boat. You will save hundreds and be much happier!

Beautiful Island. Ended up booking a private tour for 1/3 the cost of RCCL offered Excursion.
