Second time on an NCL ship... Jade first and now the Star... both ships almost identical... Good quality food in the complimentary restaurants. Very helpful staff (the guests come first so don't expect them to accept you allowing them in front of you!), stateroom very comfortable (windows could do with a clean for sure! But it's a ship... at sea... it's going to get mucky but could do with being washed at least once a cruise!). Food great for all meals, breakfast good... snacks all great... All inclusive this time round and the drinks were great... 95% of drinks covered by the all inclusive... up to $15 per drink and 2 drinks per stateroom card... sadly the entertainment on the Star was lacking, nothing that appealed but not the end of the world!! Steward charged things to my stateroom card that was never taken from the mini-bar, but queried with Customer Services and all resolved. BE AWARE THOUGH -- If you are a latitudes guest then check your stateroom freebies, as these were not automatically presented to us, but a quick enquiry at Customer Services on board and all resolved!! Overall a very pleasant cruise... Oh... I used the gym... amazing - great facilities. I also used the jogging track, great to use if WALKING guests weren't getting in the way!!! The jogging track is clearly marked but didnt stop people walking in my way!!! Don't use the GPS on your watch when jogging as you can do 1 mile in around 2 minutes!! HAHA Looks great but confuses the Garmin!! I would highly recommend NCL... just update the itineries as Corfu and Santorini are dull... And more time in the popular destinations please, like Dubrovnik!!!

In conclusion... Great holiday and not just for "old people" as NCL is freestyle, so shorts and t-shirts for dinner is fine!! Do what you like when you like!!! Venice airport lets down this cruise as it's the most disorganised place in Europe!!!

Shore Excurisons: Book them yourself direct with tour operators in the respective countries before your cruise! NCL charge a premium for excursions as you would expect!!

Cabin Review

Obstructed Oceanview

Cabin OK

Very plesant. Lifeboats in view out the window but dont really block the view. Window could do with a clean at least once a cruise to clean off the salt!! Otherwise a nice twin room. TV aerial kept falling out as the TV is moved often, but easily resolved.

Port Reviews

Kotor

Montenegro is a destination I'd not thought of before, nothing too spectacular here. Nice architecture as most European countries, but nothing much to look at after the scenary by the cruise port.

Corfu

The most boring place on the cruise and the cruise port is miles from anywhere useful and when walking out of the cruise port the wheelie bins from the houses and business stink!! Would rather just stay on the ship at this port. Not worth stopping at. First visit to Corfu on previous cruise took the Hop On Hop Off bus, waste of money... there is very little to look at on this stop.

Santorini

The view of the white houses with blue roofs looking down the cliff is it. There is nothing more to look at! The donkeys are kept in horrendous conditions... get the cable car up and walk down the cliff. The donkeys are unhappy, no water and shouldn't be used as they carry fat tourists up and down - why would you allow that to happen to an animal? Nothing of interest on this port of call.
