I would not have gone but I did get a screaming good deal one week before sailing.
Food continues to go down. Breakfast not edible in Horizon Court. Big open spaces where they used to put the food. Crown Grill has gone down in quality by 50% in the last five years, prices have gone up. Lobster on second formal night has been ruined by new recipe and terrible quality. Very unhappy crew on this ship. Some of them downright rude. Made me feel unwelcome.
Ship looks good, cabin was well maintained. Itinerary on s/b Alaska is the best. Lots of calving at Hubbard glacier. Long port times. Good enrichment program. No comedians. Same old shows.
Way too many kids screaming in the dining room even after 8pm. Lots of rude passengers onboard.
Had to wait three hours to get on a transfer from Anchorage to the ship. Only one bus each hour. You are a captive audience and they do not care. It's all about the bottom line for Princess.
There are no real activities to do during the day, just a lot of things that generate onboard revenue. I don't need Effy, the overpriced spa or art auctions - and they certainly are not activities.
Go for the good itinerary and tolerate the nickle and diming, bad food and nasty crew.
Nice clean cabin.
