TUI Marella Dream - one of the friendliest ships ever. It may not be the newest, biggest, most perfect nor glitziest of ships on the seas but of the 50+ cruises we’ve done on many different cruise lines, we find it just about the friendliest. Essentially it caters for the British holidaymaker and with a range of entertainment, choice of good food and dining options there’s something to suit just about everyone (though of course someone will always find something to moan about & I’d suggest they pay much much more and find themselves the 5* or 6 * cruise they’re expecting to have). Cruise Director, Jonny Riley does an excellent job and can fill the dance floor single handed! Keith Kerslake’s powerful voice and musical skills during the band jam evening had the floor packed to capacity and the shows can equal many west end performances. George, the Assistant Cruise Director is very professional as is David on the Entertainment Team who puts his life and soul into everything he does, despite perhaps a little unnecessary ribbing from his teammates. Yes the two pools are on the small side and are not designed for doing 20 lengths, they’re rather more for enjoying a leisurely dip and for cooling off. Given the Dream is is not a humungous floating tower block like many of today’s newer ships, we feel this ship and her staff do a pretty good job considering her age and size. We don’t think we’ve met more friendlier staff and friendlier passengers than those on the Dream and believe it is for this reason that so many former passengers continue to return year after year. We are looking forward to our next cruise on her too.
