We enjoyed our on board experience but were VERY DISAPPOINTED with several of the excursions and especially the paid-for excursions.
My main reason for this trip was to see Berlin. We took the "Historic Berlin" tour for $418 for both of us. We wanted to see the Wall, the Brandenburg Gate, and go to the American Allies Museum which were all included on this tour. We saw the Wall and the Brandenburg Gate and several other "drive-by" monuments before lunch. After lunch all we had left was the Allied Museum. As we were arriving at the museum, our guide told us we had 15 minutes to see it. 15 MINUTES!! Obviously we really couldn't really absorb the details there and we were really disappointed. Then we spent 30 minutes at a souvenir store on the "Kdam." Perhaps we could have spent 30 minutes at the museum and 15 minutes at the store.
We paid for and took the "Trail of the Vikings" tour in Stavanger, Norway. This tour was so bad for so many reasons, Viking refunded half of the money immediately to several who took the tour. We should have received all of it back.
"Glimpse of Helsinki" was 3 hours on a bus with a guide who put us all to sleep. Luckily, this was an included tour so all we lost was our time.
Viking should send an employee on the tours to observe what their clients are experiencing to insure quality. Viking promotes "enrichment" as a priority but there seems to be a disconnect between the ship and the shore experience.
We really appreciated there was no casino on board, no photographers hawking pictures, and no beauty consultants interrupting our meals to sell spa treatments. The trip was good, but the trip would have been amazing if the tours matched the ship's experience.
Cabin was amazing -- heated bathroom floor, veranda, and great storage.
Last thing we really wanted to see on our vacation was a Leprosy Museum. It was included when another venue cancelled. Take a hint -- Leprosy is not a winner!View All 136 City Tour Reviews

15 Minutes at the Allied Museum or any museum is never enough. Big mistake! 30 minutes for shopping and 15 minutes for a museum should be reversed!View All 100 Berlin Reviews
Very informative guide and beautifully restored old town.
Excellent guide even in rain. Very informative about Estonia and personal experience.View All 90 City Tour Reviews
Best tour of the trip. Satiric routine about Soviets was more truthful than most guides were willing to explain. Great experience and poignant personal stories which gave us real insight to Estonian history.View All undefined undefined Reviews
Tried to cram too much into our time. Hermitage Museum wound up last on the list. It should have been first of the day. We paid $611 for both of us and the Hermitage should have been the priority. Because of traffic coming back from Peterhof Palace and a bus windshield malfunction during a torrential downpour, we lost time and we got 40 minutes at the Hermitage. Really? 40 minutes? For the largest museum in the world. We literally ran through the museum while our guide tried to show us as much as she could. What she should have done was take us to 4 or 5 major features and let us enjoy them. Some of my pictures are blurred, we ran so fast. Not impressed!!View All undefined undefined Reviews
Spent 3 hours on a bus with a guide who put most of us to sleep. Best part of the tour was having cappuccino at a small cafe near the market square.
Excellent tour and guide who was enthusiastic about her city and showed us several features about Stockholm. Enjoyed getting off the tour, shopping, and using the shuttle back to the ship.View All 141 City Tour Reviews
