Sapphire princess is looking beautiful - not sure if it’s the recent refit but she looks brand new. One of the things I loved was that nearly every bar and lounge had views of the ocean. The staff were the friendliest I’ve ever experienced. Food was so good in main dining room we didn’t eat in a specialty restaurant once which is a first for us. The shuttle buses were a let down. Firstly we had to pay for shuttles buses and we’ve never had to do that before. Secondly the organisation of them was awful - massive queues always. Just not enough busses laid on and only one person manually taking down names and cabin numbers and checking cruise cards meants delays of (in sone cases) an hour and 40 minutes. The cabin was spacious and light, powerful shower, plenty of storage, adequate balcony. Food in buffet was great and international cafe and pizza from Alfredo’s are tasty and included in the price of the cruise. The main theatre performers were pretty poor, but the guest entertainers and the entertainment in the lounges and bars was of a good standard.

Lovely ship and itinerary

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Hermitage Museum
We did the Hermitage Museum with Time on Your Own as it was the only way to experience the city by ourselves. The guide for the morning in the hermitage was great and very funny. To be honest the hermitage was fine but we’ve been in world class museums or galleries many times and there are only so many times you can see a Dutch Master or a rafael and still be awed.

Day two we did a river boat cruise. Well worth it to see more of the city than we had time for on day one.
