Wow! What an amazing holiday! 1st time cruisers -went with another couple of experienced cruisers. From the moment we got on the ship we were "wowed"! The room was clean and comfortable. Our stateroom attendant Anthony was fantastic. Food was good - not great - but good selection. We ate in the dining room everynight as we have no interest in the hussle of the buffet. Our waiter Raphael took great care of us. The entertainment was good. I was disappointed in the shops on the Promenade. I thought there would be more selection. My only complaint (and it is minor one!) was you can't get a good cup of coffee on this ship. We didn't have near enough time to see everything on the ship as we got off at every port. All in all a wonderful experience. Just off the ship for 3 days and already planning for next year!
We took a cab for a tour of the island. The driver was a hoot and we had a great time. He took us to a fabulous beach for the afternoon.
This island is spectacular! We booked an excursion with Cosol Tours. It included breakfast, lunch and a boat ride to a beach to snorkel for $65 per person. It was a great day! The only thing we didn't like was the 12 passenger vans. We were fortunate to end up in a van with just the 4 of us so it made the day more comfortable. This island was my favourite of all. The snorkeling was great fun!
We hired a cab at the port to take us to a beach. We specified we wanted chairs, umbrellas, bar and restaurant. He took us to the perfect spot. We spend the day lounging, swimming and drinking beer! It was beautiful.
We took a cab to the "airport" beach (not sure what it is called). It was so cool - the planes fly in over your head. The beach was beautiful - water a little choppy - you need to like waves to swim there. Second stop - the beach and shopping. The stores supply free beer while shopping...need I say more? Great deals on jewelry, purses, sunglasses and liquor. Definitely the spot to do your shopping.
We went to Cane Beach for the day. Beautiful beach and great snorkeling. Nice for a relaxing day. There is nothing much to the port - no real shopping or deals. A lot of police officers at the port - a little unnerving - makes you think you have something to worry about but also safe at the same time. I would not go back to this port. It did not have the "caribbean" feel of the other islands.
