My husband and I had been so busy lately, we needed a short get-away. It was last minute, but we were still able to get a cabin at a good rate on Sky. First, I want to say that the cruise was a lot of fun, and I would book the same ship with no hesitation. The food was outstanding and much better than I had expected, and the dining staff were excellent. The ports were super: we went ashore at Great Stirrup Cay and enjoyed swimming and having barbecue; and we got off in Nassau and took the water ferry over to Atlantis. It was nice not to worry about paying for drinks, although it did have a slight Spring Break feel. The ship seems older, but it's got everything you can want. Getting on and off the ship's easy. The staff throughout the ship were super helpful. I can't say anything about the shows or on-board activities, because we just wanted to rest quietly.
My only problem was our Outside cabin (#8069). The first night, the carpet was wet, and the cabin smelled bad. During that night, the bathroom floor became wet. We reported it and got a fan to dry things. By the next night, the staff had shampooed and dried the carpet, and everything was OK. We received a bottle of wine and some sweets for our trouble. All in all, though it was unpleasant, it didn't prevent us from having a great time.
Bottom line: we had a wonderful time and would definitely go on this cruise or another NCL cruise, just in a different cabin.
It was a standard porthole cabin, not very big but plenty of space for a 3-night cruise. The location was very good--not far from the elevator, easy to walk straight down to the Crosswind dining room, and straight up to the buffet. The stateroom attendant was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there was a bathroom leak for the first half of the cruise, but the ship staff got things cleaned up.
We only planned to stay for an hour, but stayed almost all day. We found a shady spot to the left of the main beach. I went swimming in the lovely warm water. Then we ate the barbecue (super ribs & chicken for my husband, delicious veggie burger for me, plus nice salads, desserts, & drinks). We then rested for a while & enjoyed doing nothing.
We took a water taxi to Atlantis & walked around there. The water taxis are out the port entrance and to the right along the first main road--easy to walk to. The taxi cost $4/person each way. It was fun, but they leave every 1/2 hour. A land taxi might have been faster. You can walk around a lot of Atlantis for free, but some areas are restricted to people staying at the hotel.
