This cruise and trip to Hawaii was to celebrate our 20th anniversary and my retirement. I booked this cruise August 2016. We would not have picked NCL, but they have a monopoly in Hawaii during the summer months, the only time we could go.

May 25th we got an itinerary change that instead of going to Hilo and Kona (completely understandable), we would have a sea day and then visit Lahaina the next day. No problem. After enduring the nightmarish embarkation lines with very little structure or help from any NCL employees, along with no air movement, it was our turn. The NCL lady was very friendly, and then slipped us our new itinerary, which neither of paid attention to until we were on the ship. That's when we realized we'd be staying in Honolulu one extra day. Excuse me? We had to change rental car plans and jumble excursions. I tried to explain my plight to guest relations, but only received shrugs and blank stares. They did finally let it out that NCL was saving money on fuel. Really, did they tell me that? 2 other NCL people on the ship told me that we were in Honolulu an extra day because the POA wasn't equipped for sea day. Huh? Not true at all. 1 week later, I watched the POA sail away from Honolulu right on schedule Saturday night at 7pm. NCL robbed us of one day, with the only compensation received being a shrug and blank stare. Just tell us why.

Enough of that.

Cabin Review

Aft-Facing Large Balcony

Cabin B1

Cabin was smaller than we were used to, but the aft balcony was great. Larger than other aft balconies we've been on. Came with 2 loungers, 2 chairs and 2 tables.

Port Reviews

Honolulu

They kept us in Honolulu and extra day with no explanation

Maui

Due to the itinerary change, we had to cancel one excursion. We ended up renting a car both days.
