My son chose this cruise and asked if we wanted to go with the family. He had been on Celebrity before and loved it. I found it to be comparable to another line we like in many ways and others it didn’t compare. Embarkation went well and quickly. I didn’t have to stand on too long a line to check in. The ship is well maintained and very nice, but our bed was not very comfortable and neither was the sofa in the cabin. I did not like the selection on the television of shows and movies and I couldn’t believe we had to pay for some of the movies. It was nice to be able to check our account though. The bathroom was nice and I liked the shower stall with doors instead of a curtain and it had a night light. Storage seemed poor as the drawers weren’t very deep or long, no nightstand except for a couple of tiny shelves and the closet was small for two people. There was storage above the bed but hard to reach if you are short. Our steward kept it very clean and was very friendly but he didn’t keep our ice bucket filled.

Getting on and off the ship was easy. Lines were not long and I never felt crowded on the ship. We were always able to get a good seat in the theater for the shows as little as 15 minutes before showtime.

Food on board was good. The breakfast menu in the dining room was the same every day and never changed. The meals at night were good. My favorite was the prime rib one night. The buffet had a large selection to choose from and the food was quite good there. A good selection of beverages, too. However, the tables were often dirty and plates not removed very often. No one offered to help carry my plates or get a drink. I walk with a cane.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1A

Cabin 1A

Nice bathroom with updated and modern features. Shower was great. Storage was minimal as one drawer had technical equipment for computers in it and I couldn’t use it. The nightstands were just three tiny shelves big enough to hold my travel alarm. There were two big cupboards over the bed and a small closet. Nice cabinet in the bathroom for toiletries. The sofa was not too comfortable and our bed was hard. The television shows were very limited but you could easily check your account and look at onboard activity. I was shocked to see pay-per-view shows and a poor selection of free shows.

Port Reviews

Miami

Spent one night in Miami before boarding ship. Loved Bayside Mall. Great Starbucks there.

San Juan

I was disappointed in the lack of shopping at the pier, but I believe that was due to the hurricane from last summer. Still a lot of damage.

St. Thomas

Took a shuttle from Crown Point into downtown and walked around a bit. Still a lot of recovery going on from hurricane. Locals very happy we were there supporting the economy.

St. Maarten

With three large ships in port, it was crowded. Took ferry from pier to main part of town. No plans to return any time soon.
