We chose the cruise for the itinerary and Celebrity because we prefer them. We expected cooler, cloudier and less sunny weather but after the first cloudy day at sea we were blessed with clear almost cloudless skies, warm temperatures, no rain and wonderful scenery. Our stateroom was as expected and we had an excellent steward who seemed to second guess our needs. The stateroom was always spotlessly clean and well serviced. We don't care for the appetisers delivered to the room so cancelled them after re-trying them for a couple of days....we thought they might have improved...but no. The appetisers in the Sky lounge before dinner were much nicer. We couldn't fault the itinerary. the weather helped. We chose not to do any Celebrity organised tours as we are quite willing to walk and explore and had never been to any of the ports of call before. So easy just to get off the ship and walk either on the level, to viewpoints, alongside waterfalls through countryside etc.

We ate once in Tuscan, on the first night, when there are usually discounts. The food was very good as usual. We chose to book to go to the special "Tuscan Night Out" towards the end of the cruise, which was priced at almost twice the normal price of the normal Tuscan cover charge and promised to be something special...special food cooked by the chef with wines to match. 50 people only and accompanied by a senior member of the ships crew on each table. This proved to be incorrect. The menu was a truncated version of the normal Tuscan menu with the addition of lobster ( which we had had in the main dining room the night before) and the "wines" offered were available on the classic drinks package.... we already had this. The service was not up to scratch and the tables were badly organised. We complained after the meal to Guest Relations and the next day the Maitre'D of Tuscan personally dealt with our complaint to our satisfaction. Celebrity do need to re-think this option.

This was the only thing to marr a perfect holiday.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 1

Excellent cabin plenty of space to store all our things. Room under the beds for suitcases . Good bathroom area and a proper shower with doors.

Port Reviews

Bergen

Easy to walk in after the free short bus ride to the port gates. Visit and eat at the fish market, visit Bryggen take the cable car (there are two but one requires a bus ride) or walk up the hill passed the white old fire station to get a wonderful view of Bergen.

Skjolden

Just nice to wander walk and climb to a lovely vanatge point. Another walk toa waterfall available too.

Geiranger

Just leave the ship, turn right and follow the path cross the bridge join the path and steps alongside the river and eventually the rushing waterfall. Stunning. Lots of shops selling woollen clothes, trolls and fluffy reindeer toys if that is what you want.

Alesund

Again we just walked. Check out the port on Google Maps before you go. Worth visiting Artiflex a wonderful shop with a wonderful owner who does not pressure you to buy anything. Antiques, art and a story behind everything. We did not buy but felt most welcome.

Lerwick (Shetland Islands)

We were blessed with lovely weather. Wander round the town and then out of town. Checkout, before you go, where Tesco is on Google Maps, call in for some Scottish Strawberries ( if in summertime...otherwise a sandwich if you must) then wander across the road to Clickminin Broch an ancient site which is fascinating to wander around...for free...It is next to a small loch. Sit in the sunshine and eat the starawberries. Then retrace your steps and veer to the right. Walk round The Knab, and then after a pint in The Queens call for chips near the port. Good to walk off the calories before dinner!
