A gift from my father-in-law, we chose this cruise as it seemed to offer a variety of excursions, gourmet dinners, and a relaxed pace to explore the countries along the Danube. Every aspect of the cruise exceeded our expectations! The ship, stateroom, staff, food, wine, informational talks, excursions, regional entertainment and cities visited combined to make the most well-balanced trip that was interesting, exciting and relaxing , all at the same time!

No detail went unnoticed. Cold water bottles were provided before embarking on excursions and upon our we were greeted with warm, damp washcloths. Wait staff remembered your name and your preferred drink or wine. Staff seemed to genuinely enjoy their positions and this positive attitude set the tone for the ship. Tour guides were from the town of focus and were therefore able to give a close-up and personalized tour. Excursions were quite varied and interesting. Evening meals included regional specialities to offer guests a chance to immerse themselves in the culture.

The small size of the ship (164 guests) afforded the opportunity to meet people and make new friends. We continue to be in touch with several fellow Viking Hermod travelers.
