We have sailed on the Spirit before and loved it. This cruise to the Dalmatian coast was lovely. Croatia and Slovenia are beautiful countries and were new ports for us. I don't like to sail from Rome as the transport to/from the airport is expensive if you cannot use the train (we are elderly and cannot carry our luggage aboard the train). We always use Cabroma taxi service. Very dependable, professional, with nice cars and fairly reasonable (private car for two E115 FCO to Civitavecchia and E115 from the ship to our FCO hotel) Cheaper per person if you share.
Embarkation was breeze. Our cabin was very nice, but could have had a little more storage. The safe on the floor of the closet is difficult for elderly to use, but we managed. Cabin steward was attentive, if somewhat absent-minded - he kept forgetting the bathmat. Aircon worked perfectly.
We ate in the Garden Dining room, and once each in Le Bistro and La Trattoria. We enjoyed all the meals. Lunch in the buffet was ok. We used the Continental Breakfast Room Service on port days and the service was prompt. We always tip a few dollars to the delivery waiter - they are unappreciated for the service they provide.

The cabin was very quiet, furthest forward on Deck 9, under the bridge, but your view was not impacted. Small balcony, but adequate. No table for dining, but a clean towel and napkin placed on the desk chair turned it into a passable table along with bringing in the tiny balcony table. Single sofa (bed) made for cozy seating. Our bed was very comfortable.
Do not like to sail from/to Rome. Did not visit Rome city on this cruise.
We have been to Malta before - one of the most beautiful sail-ins! The ancient fortress is amazing, though they now have some construction cranes that ruin the ambience. Modernization is everywhere. Do take an Island tour if this is your first time in Malta.
