We have done about 8 Princess Cruises and take 2 Caribbean cruises each winter to get away from the Canadian cold. We thoroughly enjoy the shipboard experience so the ports are of less importance to us. The Regal was just retrofitted with the Ocean Medallion equipment. The best side benefit of this change was that Princess advertised the fastest internet at sea and they were certainly correct. On most ships downloads for newspapers, magazine etc. are painfully slow ( especially when on a time plan). The download speed on the Regal was very close to high speed internet at home. A pleasant surprise.
We have been on the Regal and Royal and one attraction for us ( vs not only other Princess ships but other lines as well) is huge Piazza ( Atrium). Entertainment is constant with bands, pianists, singers etc. constantly rotating. It is easy to spend an entire evening enjoying the various bars surrounding the atrium while having excellent live music.
The food in the dining room was definitely better than on some prior Princess cruises. We went to both the Winemaker's dinner and the Chef's table, both of which offered an over the top food experience that would cost several hundred dollars in a restaurant at home. The steaks in the Crown Grill are excellent and the surcharge of $29 is both reasonable and much lower than on some other lines.
The cabins are roomy with a comfortable bed and lots of storage. Basically a full length hanging closet about 8 ft wide plus lots of drawers. The separate couch and 2nd TV make watching the on demand moves comfortable . The bathroom is well sized with a tub and included shower. Cleanliness and steward service were excellent.
A nice safe beach day. Some nice snorkelling right of the beach for small colourful fish. They now use larger boats ( not the lifeboats) for tendering which can handle rough water much better. Nice that the food and bar packages work at the beach so no extra charge .
a brand new shopping area has been set up- decent to walk around. The port is too far from attractions such as Dunn's falls otherwise.
We go to seven mile beach on our own. You can always still see the ship from the beach so there is a comfort zone. Shopping is very expensive as this is a high income island.
This is our favourite Caribbean island, walk to the beach, rent loungers by the water for $20 including beer and have a great day. Cheapest shopping ( especially for liquor anywhere in the Caribbean - cheaper than the duty free shops anywhere. They are overcoming the hurricane damage and the town is very clean and friendly.
We always arrive the day before to avoid flight issues and there are many excellent restaurants in the area.
